Every feature is on both plans
This is the part most pricing pages get backwards. Sembr does not hold a feature back to sell you the next tier up. The member portal, the public directory, dues and renewals, events, the REST API, the embeddable widgets, custom branding, your own subdomain, Ask Sembr, and full data export are on Essential and on Growth, identically.
What changes between the two is capacity: how many staff logins you get, and how much included Ask Sembr usage comes with the plan. That is it.

What both plans include
- Member records, dues and renewals. Tiers, categories, renewal schedules, and a contact log against each member.
- Get paid to your own bank account. Stripe Connect, usually same-day. Members can turn on autopay from the portal.
- A member portal your members can actually sign in to. Magic link, no password to forget. Installs to a phone home screen.
- Events with registration and check-in. Take registrations, cancel them, check people in at the door.
- A public member directory, on your site or ours.
- Embeddable widgets. Drop your directory, your events, or a join form into the website you already have.
- Ask Sembr. Drafts follow-ups, subject lines and starter copy from your own data, and cites what it used.
- Your own subdomain, or your own domain over a CNAME.
- Custom branding. Your colours and your logo.
- The REST API, with tokens you mint and revoke yourself.
- Leave whenever you want, and take everything with you. JSON, CSV or a replayable SQL script. No support ticket, no exit fee.
- Privacy requests handled in the product. Members can request their data or ask to be erased, and you work the queue with a clock on it.
What you don't pay for
- No per-member fees. A 75-member organization and a 400-member organization pay the same, whatever the type. There is no member cap on either plan.
- No platform fee on Stripe transactions. You pay standard Stripe rates. We add nothing.
- No setup fee. Self-serve sign-up.
- No feature held back for the higher tier. See above. This is the whole point.
- No annual price hike for renewing customers. Your renewal price is your sign-up price, indexed only to inflation.
Nonprofit discount
25% off both tiers for registered charities and 501(c)(3) organizations.
Send us your registration number when you sign up and we will apply it by hand. We check it against the public register in your jurisdiction. There is no automated lookup today, so give us a business day.
Migration
Migration from any major incumbent is free on annual plans ($499.00 CAD one-time on monthly). We run the import with you on a call, usually about 30 minutes.
What about Stripe fees?
You pay Stripe directly. Stripe rates vary by country and payment method (typically 2.9% plus a small flat fee for credit cards, less for bank transfers like ACH, EFT, or PADs). Sembr does not add a platform fee on top of Stripe.
Annual vs monthly
Annual billing locks your rate, saving $480.00 CAD a year on Essential and $600.00 CAD a year on Growth against paying monthly.
What we have not built yet
We would rather you read this here than find out after you have paid.
- Outbound webhooks. The REST API is live and documented. Webhooks that push events to your endpoint are not built. Zapier and Make integrations wait on them.
- Accounting sync. QuickBooks, Xero and Sage have pages on this site describing planned work. None of them move data today.
- Charitable tax receipts. Sembr issues invoices and payment receipts. It does not issue CRA or IRS charitable donation receipts.
- Scheduled exports. Export is on demand and complete. Nightly delivery to your own storage is not built.
