Why these numbers

We charge what it costs us, not what we can extract.

Most membership platforms price by member count because it scales their revenue. It does not scale their costs anywhere near as fast. That gap is the business model, and you are the one paying for it.

Sembr prices by organization. One number, whatever your roster does.

The two numbers

Essential is $129.00 CAD a month billed annually, $169.00 CAD month to month. Three staff logins.

Growth is $249.00 CAD a month billed annually, $299.00 CAD month to month. Ten staff logins, and five times the included Ask Sembr usage.

Every feature is on both. The tiers differ by capacity, never by capability, and there is no member cap on either one.

Why there is no member cap

Because our costs do not work that way.

The expensive parts of running Sembr are close to fixed per organization: the database, the backups, the monitoring, the security work, and the time it takes to answer a real question from a real person. An organization with 400 members does not cost us four times what one with 100 members costs. Charging as though it did would be inventing a cost to justify a price.

The parts that genuinely do scale with activity are email and AI usage. Email is a fraction of a cent a send. AI is the one that can actually run away, which is why it is metered and why the allowance is written on the plan rather than hidden in a fair-use clause.

Why Ask Sembr is metered and nothing else is

Every other feature has a cost we can predict from the shape of your organization. AI does not. A single long question against a large roster can cost more than a month of that organization's email.

So we do the honest version: a stated monthly allowance, visible in the product, that stops when it runs out rather than silently billing you. Essential includes 100,000 tokens a month. Growth includes 500,000. If you would rather use your own Anthropic key and pay Anthropic directly, you can, on either plan.

Nothing else in Sembr is metered, throttled, or subject to a quota we have not told you about.

What the price does not include

Stripe's fees. You pay Stripe directly at their published rates, and we add nothing on top. We never touch the money; it settles to your bank account, not ours.

What happens if you outgrow us

Then you leave, and you take everything.

Export is a first-class feature, not a retention obstacle: JSON, CSV, or a SQL script you can replay into your own Postgres. No support ticket, no notice period, no exit fee. We would rather you go cleanly and say so publicly than stay because leaving was made expensive.
