Two directories, and they are not the same
The public directory is what the world sees. It lives at your own address and can be embedded in your existing website.
The community directory is on the roadmap, not yet live. It will be member-only, live inside the portal, and carry business cards with masked contact details. See community.
This page is about the public one.
Who appears
Members you have listed, and only those. A member is not published because they exist; somebody has to list them.
You can set this per member, or bulk-list a group at once when you are setting up.
What shows
Per member: their listing details and a logo if they have one. You control the fields your directory publishes; a member controls some of their own from the portal.
Lapsed members stay in it
Somebody behind on their dues keeps their listing.
That is intentional. A lapsed member is a member you want back, and quietly deleting them from the public directory the moment they are a week late is both a bad way to treat them and a bad way to get paid. Listings end at cancelled.
Putting it on your own website
Most organizations already have a website and are not going to replace it to use Sembr. So the directory embeds into it with a script tag, and it stays current because it is reading your live roster rather than a copy somebody pasted.
See embeddable widgets.
What it is not
It is not a lead list. The public directory publishes what you have chosen to publish about members who have agreed to be published, and the community directory, when it ships, will mask contact details until a member reveals their own card.
If you want a spreadsheet of your own members' details, that is what export is for, and it is yours whenever you want it.
